VW camper hire Midlands

VW camper hire Midlands - FAQ's.

We’ve tried to provide a range of useful answers to any questions you might have. This list is not exhaustive however, so should you have any more specific questions about our VW camper hire please call and we’d be happy to help.

Why hire from 25seven?

We'd like to think there are a few reasons for choosing us…be it our friendly manner, flexible yet efficient service, central location or simply the condition and practicality of our vans. We go to great lengths to make your holiday a happy one, by making the admin as simple as possible and by providing you with everything you could need for your time away. If you need that little bit of extra reassurance then why not read our reviews and see what our recent customers thought?

How does the booking process work?

We've recently changed our booking process to make it even easier. You can now check availability and obtain a price for hire instantly online whatever the time of day or night. For full details on how to book visit our How it Works page.

How can I quickly tell if I am able to hire a camper?

If you meet our insurance criteria below then you will automatically be eligible to hire. But don't worry if not as in most cases you will still be allowed to hire one of our campers you may just be subject to an increased excess. If in doubt please get in touch before booking.

Can I bring my pet?

Yes well behaved pets are welcome, we’ll even provide the water bowl. All we ask is that any soft furnishings are covered by pet blankets to cut down on any additional cleaning.

What are the collection and return times?

We’ve tried to work these so you have as much time as possible whilst still allowing us time to turn campers around for the next hire. Therefore collection is from 2.30pm on the first day of hire, with return at 11am on the last day of hire. That said if your van isn’t on hire immediately before or after your booking then we're happy to be more flexible nearer the time.

Can I extend my hire period?

Yes…if you’re having that much of a good time (and we hope you are) then as long as the van isn’t booked out the following week all you need to do is call and we’ll use your deposit cheque towards the additional hire fee’s.

How does the fuelling work?

We’re quite relaxed about the fuelling of or campervans, so rather than specify that they must return with a full tank, all we ask is that they are not on fumes when returned. PLEASE REMEMBER THAT ALL OUR CAMPERVANS RUN ON ULEADED PETROL.

What is the fuel consumption like?

On average you can expect to get around 300 miles from a single tank, which isn’t bad when you remember that you’re carrying your bedroom, kitchen, dinning and living room around with you. What that means in real terms is enough to get from our base in the Midlands to the far reaches of the UK on one fill up.

Are the vans warm when things get cold?

Yes they really are very cosy. All the main panels in the van, including the high-top roof are insulated. Fergal even features warm air gas heating that is thermostatically controlled if things are getting a bit chilly.

Do you do gift vouchers?

Yes, we can produce personalised VW camper gifts vouchers for any occasion. Valid for a year from date of issue all you need to do is pay either £50 or £100 towards the booking and the recipient can then deal with us directly for redemption. Call for full details.

Where can I park my car?

Unfortunately at this stage we are unable to provide secure parking as the business is currently run from our home address. You are more than welcome to leave your car on our quiet road. This is something we will look to change as we grow.

Can I hire if I have driving convictions?

Yes…our standard cover allows for a maximum of six points obtained for speeding related offences only. If however you have more than six or points obtained for any other offence then you can still be covered although may be subject to a higher insurance excess than our standard £250. Once we have your completed Insurance Agreement Forms we’ll confirm any excess increase in writing.

What happens if I have to cancel?

Should you have to cancel for any reason following receipt of your booking deposit but before 28 days of the hire period, the booking deposit is forfeited. If confirmed bookings are cancelled within 28 to 14 days of the start of the hire period then the cancellation fee is 50% of the total hire charge (in addition to the deposit). If confirmed bookings are cancelled within 14 days of the hire period or the hirer is a no show then the fee is 100% of the total hire charge. This might all sound a bit unfair although unfortunately we only have a limited number of vans and so need to ensure they are utilised as much as possible. However, if we do subsequently achieve another booking for the same hire period we will waive the cancellation fee but not the booking deposit.

What if I’ve never driven a van before?

Try not to think of them as vans but rather large cars, because to be honest that’s how they feel when on the road. They are no longer than a family estate car and although they don’t have power steering, the steering wheel is huge so manoeuvring is pretty easy. Due to their age they are not the fastest, although that’s half their charm so just settle down to 60 and cruise. If you are still unsure we’d be happy for you to have a quick test drive before hiring, just call.

When will my refundable deposit be returned?

Immediately on return of the camper once we are happy that it's in the same condition that it left in. We will only cash cheques should we need to recoup costs incurred and in those instances you will be provided with a full itemised invoice showing the charges applied.

What happens if I have an accident?

In the first instance you need to call the Police if it involves another driver and then us immediately. Never admit liability as it’s not your responsibility to decide whose fault it is. Our insurance cover is comprehensive so once we are aware of any incidents we can start to sort things out.

What condition are the vans in?

We have gone to great lengths to buy genuine original campervan conversions in good original condition. There might be the odd small blemish here and there but otherwise each van is in great condition for their age. All we ask is that you bring them back in the same condition.

Is smoking permitted in the vans?

Absolutely not…we are pretty relaxed about most things but this is something we have zero tolerance for. So I’m afraid it’s a case of outside only.

How safe are these vans?

Very…each is in sound mechanical and structural condition and come with seat belts for four people (two three point belts at the front and two lap belts at the rear). As with any area that features cooking facilities the biggest risk is fire, we have therefore equipped the vans with fire extinguishers and blankets. Each van also features carbon monoxide and smoke detectors detectors for piece of mind.

What happens in the event of a breakdown?

Each van has a current MOT and regular services in between and so is in tip top condition. However as with anything mechanical there is always the unforeseen. To allow for that we have UK wide AA breakdown cover that will come to you wherever you are to attempt to fix the van and get you back on your way again. If they are unable to affect a repair at the side of the road then it will be towed to a local garage. If then they are still unable to solve the problem the van along with yourselves and all your possessions will be brought back to 25seven, where we will try to offer you a replacement vehicle.

What is the standard excess?

Our standard excess is an incredibly low £250 with most other companies charging three times that or an additional fee to reduce it down to near our level. In some instances our excess may increase depending on an individuals driving convictions etc, although for majority of hirers it’s just £250.
